Dental Hygiene at School

A dental hygienist can provide treatment to students from elementary to post secondary school. Hygiene treatment can be provided at colleges or universities that don't have a dental office onsite.

How it works

We can provide dental hygiene treatment to students from elementary to post secondary. Oral hygiene education can be taught to the whole class if requested by the school. The presentation can include a flip chart, props and a slide show.

A permission form and dental insurance forms will be sent home to parents to complete if they are interested in their child receiving treatment at school. A dental hygiene treatment can be provided in an available area at the school - the gym, office, nurses room or a free class room. Treatment will start from the youngest grade up to the oldest grade. It will go from class to class until every student who signed up has been seen.

Treatment can be during a break or for a short time during class.

For post secondary students who are interested, they can complete the required forms and treatment will be provided in a location on campus that is permitted by the school.

This service is to help parents and students save travel time and gas, and avoid missing school for a dental hygiene treatment.

The Appointment

The appointment starts with medical and dental history, then the treatment that was approved by the parent - which can include scaling, polish, flossing, fluoride and then it ends with a short oral hygiene education. Patients will still need to see their dentist for an exam and x-raysIt is recommended for most children and adults to have dental hygiene services twice per year. Insurance will be submitted electronically on the day of service.
